Vacations…

Hating vacations right now.

Nothing to do.

I want college now!

The funny thing is that half of my classmates think the same…

Fuck vacations.

Sleepless nights making paperwork on various patient cases
Memorizing countless medical concepts
Discussing no less than 5 diseases a day
Holding a cigarette in one hand and notes on the other 15 minutes before an exam
Muttering about minor subjects
Grabbing cases
Performing health procedures like a pro
Hearing the cry of a newborn
Dealing with patients from all walks of life
Having a great time with booze and in night outs despite the school pressure
Buying and stealing gloves, masks, and bonnets
Constant monitoring for stains in the white uniform
No wash days
Backbiting bitchy nurses and scornful physicians
Enlightening discussions from doctors and medical staff
Learning unexpected lessons from patients
The sense of privilege to work in a hospital
Community service
Heart pounding surgeries
Heart warming deliveries
Heart racing emergency cases
The first injections
Illegally practicing procedures that only a licensed nurse should do
Learning how to multi-multitask
Having big bags
Performing CPR on a real, dying patient
Knowing how to place ECG leads
Proud moments when the staff acknowledges you as if you’re a part of the the licensed team
Endorsements
When the staff nurse teaches you new skills
Cleaning the surgical instruments
Being yelled at all the time
Losing a patient for the first time
Weeping for patients even if it’s not allowed
Learning how to appreciate life and death
Learning why should one be proud to be a nurse
Learning why we are not just nurses.
Enviously eyeing on the two letters (RN) in the clinical instructors’ nameplates
Wearing the first nameplate
Receiving the BSN pin
These things make me look back. It was not so bad after all. :,)
